Roundabout
The alternative to the signalized junction: smooth with light traffic, with a bypass for right turns and a gatekeeper for backups.

Instead of a junction with traffic lights you can build a roundabout. It needs no lights and flows more smoothly as long as the junction is not too busy. Whoever is in the ring has the right of way, the entries wait for a gap.

Sizes
| Size | Space | Price | Upgrades |
|---|---|---|---|
| small | 3 × 3 tiles | 600 $ | up to level 3 |
| medium | 6 × 6 tiles | 1,800 $ | up to level 6 |
In the middle there is an advertising column, a tree, a bush or a graffiti wall, depending on the roundabout.
Each upgrade level makes the space one tile larger and more cars fit into the ring. Each new tile of space costs 100 $. The medium roundabout needs at least one wide road as an approach.
Requirements
- at least three approaches
- one free tile all around
- not on the highway, not on a bridge and not too close to a highway on-ramp
Fine-tuning per entry
Click a roundabout. Each entry has two switches:
- Bypass (400 $): right turns go past the ring. The ring gets a little smaller in return. On the small roundabout this only works from level 2. A graffiti wall stands on the outside of the bypass, often with a tree or a billboard at the corner.
- Gatekeeper (800 $): if one entry backs up, the gatekeeper briefly holds the others so it can get into the ring.
The window shows the backup per entry and how many cars are in the ring, live.

You can switch between junction and roundabout at any time, even afterwards.
