Industrial District

From scrapyard to large factory. Industry brings many jobs and high taxes, but also smog.

Factory worker

Your residents work in the industrial district. One tile costs 400 $. Industry pays the highest taxes per tile, 16 $ per hour at base, and clearly more for large factories.

How the district grows

  • Storage yards with scrap and containers appear right away. They bring almost nothing but keep the space occupied.
  • Real businesses such as workshops, warehouses or foundries arrive as soon as enough workers live nearby. Workers commute up to 100 tiles, and traffic pays for the trip.
  • Large factories only appear with high demand and very good conditions. Chemical plants bring a lot of money but pollute a huge area.

Smog

Every business causes smog, and it drifts with the wind. Smog lowers the value of residential districts clearly, commerce suffers a little, and industry itself does not mind. So plan some distance to housing. A Park in between filters part of it.

Fire protection for industry only comes with hazmat trucks from the Fire Station.
