DeutschBit is a small floating robot with a green LED face and five thrusters. He calls himself "version 17.8.6" and was assigned to you by the Colonial Authority as your helper. He is friendly, honest and sometimes a little too enthusiastic.
Origins
Bit was built in the BITMEUP workshops on the Martian moon Deimos. Every year the Colonial Authority buys a few hundred of these companions and sends them along with new District Lords. Dschi programmed his personality himself (Dschi). Within the company the 17 main versions before him are considered "too honest". Version 17.8.6 is only a little too honest.
What Bit does for you
- He explains every step of the tutorial with voice and text (Bit and the Tutorial).
- He shows you with arrows and green areas where things belong.
- He praises you when things go well and tells you what is missing for the next task.
- Highlighted terms in his sentences are interactive: hover over them and a small window explains the word.
Handling Bit
- Voice: Bit talks when sound is on. The "Voice output" switch and the "Voices" slider in the settings apply to Bit and all characters. Your account remembers the choice.
- Later: once Bit stops prescribing where to build, you can park him with "See you later". He shrinks, the task keeps running in the background, and as soon as it is done he comes back on his own.
- Calling him back: a click on Bit or on the task panel brings his box back at any time.
