Statement and Shifts
When what gets paid, how to read the statement of a shift and what the banker is trying to tell you.
A day in District Null has three shifts: Night from 0 to 8, Early from 8 to 16 and Late from 16 to 24 o'clock. Many costs are tied to them.
When what gets paid
| Item | When |
|---|---|
| Taxes, rent from above | continuously, shown per hour |
| Police, fire department, hospital | every full hour in advance |
| Cinema | planned shifts in advance at the change of day |
| Space Burger | wages in advance at the start of a shift |
| Park gardener | in advance per shift, only if the park has power |
| Mines, blast furnaces, buses, schools, clubs, skyscrapers | continuously |
| Development loan | repayment first, from every tax payment |
| District Bank | daily installment at midnight, before anything else |
Reading the statement
A click on your balance opens the statement of the last shift: cash at the start and end, the lowest point, all income, all expenses, construction and purchases. Shifts you did not watch are estimated from the hourly values and marked "estimated".

Red marks a problem, for example:
- balance negative or till empty, mines and blast furnaces stop
- a service or the cinema could not pay an hour or a shift
- arrears on a loan
- a park without money for the gardener
- a loss that leaves your balance unable to last another day
Yellow marks a note, such as a loss you can absorb or taxes that dropped clearly compared to the previous shift.
The banker
If there are problems with a shift payment while you are playing, the banker appears at the bottom center: "There are problems with your shift payment. Please take a look at the overview of your figures." One click takes you straight to that statement. Below the money tile you will see "! Problems" until you have looked at it.
