Overdrive Protocols
Short-term boosts from the lab: research once, strengthen level by level and activate for 7 days when needed.
Scientist
The overdrive protocols are short-term boosts from the research lab, strictly separate from the research network. You find them in the lab window under "Overdrive Protocols".
How they work
- Research a level: you research each protocol once. Level 1 costs 1,500,000 $, 300 metal and 100 chrome steel and takes 2 days. Levels 2 to 5 make the protocol permanently stronger. They get more expensive, and from level 3 krypto steel is added.
- Activate: this costs money and material every time, the higher the level, the more. After 1 day of lead time the protocol works for 7 days.
Protocols have a slot of their own, two with Premium. They do not block research.
The five protocols
| Protocol | Affects | Level 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fusion Overdrive | output of all fusion power plants | 5% | 7% | 9% | 12% | 15% |
| Mining Overdrive | output of the pig iron mines | 5% | 7% | 9% | 12% | 15% |
| Smelting Overdrive | throughput of all blast furnaces | 5% | 7% | 9% | 12% | 15% |
| Trade Overdrive | commercial tax | 3% | 4.5% | 6% | 8% | 10% |
| Logistics Overdrive | capacity of all warehouses | 10% | 15% | 20% | 25% | 30% |
Active protocols count as an extra for the district value (District Value and Field Info). Researched protocol levels count toward the technology score.
